Last week I wrote an articlefor Refinery29 about Tumblr style and how it’s influencing the fashion industry and especially the way in which it’s being interpreted by adults. Although I used Jeremy Scott to illustrate this, my intention wasn’t AT ALL meant to attack him, especially because he is one of my favorite designers and I respect his aesthetic so incredibly much. That being said, I also think that it’s my job as a writer to express what I am feeling no matter how much I may love Jeremy’s collections, because there were certain things that came to my attention that were making me think about Tumblr and its meaning not only for Jeremy, but the fashion industry as a whole right now. There was definitely some controversy that arose. I got a lot of people from the Tumblr community who really respected what I wrote, but on Refinery29 there was a bit of backlash—-which is fine with me; it’s nice to think that my words can be thought-provoking whatever the thought may be, but I felt especially after reading an article that Jezebel.com published in response to my Refinery29 piece, that my original intention had been misconstrued. —->
